Za'atar Crescent Rolls
A Lebanese twist on the classic crescent roll, stuffed with Armenian string cheese and coated in za’atar
I love to put a Lebanese twist on anything I try in Lebanon, so my next victim is the crescent rolls, ‘croissants’ as I like to call them ‘cause ‘chic c’est la vie’, baby!! When I moved to the US and discovered the blue pillsbury cans of dough in the supermarket, I was honestly amazed. The whole idea of them— tear, pop open, roll, bake, and voila! I mean, how simple is that? America is all about convenience and this was convenience at its best.
With Easter and Mother’s Day being right around the corner, I wanted to make a simple addition to your meal. Whether that’s a brunch, or just a snack to have around the house. This one is 3 ingredients and can be whipped together in 15 minutes. What more can you ask for? The crescent rolls are just like little fluffy clouds, and I think not baking the za’atar and dusting it on them at the end makes for that perfect herbaceous bite. When I was testing these out, I literally kept eating them throughout the whole week. Just popping it in the toaster oven for 2 minutes and popping it in my mouth. They go great with coffee, scrambled eggs, or just on their own. Serve with with a side of labneh & olive oil, and you’ll be licking your fingers up!
